If the legend is true, the moment she gives into her feelings and does the old pollen and nectar, you end with a gruesome death. Think praying mantis. So while she desperately wants to claim you as her mate (and yes, let you drink her royal jelly), she's holding it all back to keep you alive.
Quite the conundrum. What's a poor hopeless romantic to do? Dispel the curse, obviously. Of course, easier said than done seeing as the only one who knows how is the Queen herself. Luckily, that's all about to change.
See, while you and Mel have been off doing... flower tasting, or whatever... the hive has been inching its way to a crescendo. Queen Honey's egg production is dropping, and that means it's time for the Vespine Belle! A brutal, hive-wide competition where the princesses battle for points, and the top 3 earn the right to the secret of the royal toll, and with it: the throne.
Melbuzzia doesn't care to be Queen, but what she does care about is learning how to break the Royal Toll. Which means she's got to earn enough points to leave, start her own hive, and take you with her, all while outcompeting her sisters.
